There are many types of capsules

Capsules are dosage forms in which drugs and excipients are filled into hollow, rigid capsules or flexible, soft capsule materials. Common types of capsules include regular capsules, enteric-coated capsules, sustained-release capsules, and controlled-release capsules.

Generally, the generic name of a drug will clearly indicate whether it is enteric-coated, sustained-release, or controlled-release. If it is not specified, it is a regular capsule, such as amoxicillin capsules, ibuprofen capsules, and valsartan capsules.

The capsule shell is an oval-shaped hollow shell made of food-grade pharmaceutical gelatin through refining and auxiliary materials. It is used to contain solid powders or granules and can dissolve quickly, reliably, and safely. Besides being a carrier for oral medications, capsules can also be used to contain inhaled dry powders, vaginal delivery systems, etc.
