How to Distinguish Between Plant-Based Capsules and Gelatin Capsules
Plant-based capsules are made from plant cellulose.
Plant-based capsules retain the advantages of traditional gelatin capsules: convenient to take, effectively masking taste and odor, and transparent contents. Moreover, compared to gelatin capsules, plant-based capsules have a denser molecular structure, stronger sealing, and are less permeable to air, effectively preventing oxidation reactions when the medicine comes into contact with air; they are less prone to bacterial growth, eliminating the need for carcinogens like ethylene oxide and irradiation sterilization.
Plant-based capsules are made entirely from plant ingredients, are harmless to the body, and also contain nutritional components, offering therapeutic benefits for diabetes and high blood pressure. As a new technology, plant-based capsules are produced using internationally recognized standards.
Here are two simple methods to distinguish between plant-based capsules and gelatin capsules:
Method 1: A glass of water, approximately 1 L of room temperature water.
Method 2: A lighter, tweezers, and asbestos paper.
1. Observe dissolution in cold water: Place both types of capsules in 25°C cold water. Gelatin capsules gradually expand but do not dissolve; plant-based capsules gradually dissolve.
2. Observe the burning phenomenon: Burn the two types of capsules separately. The plant capsule produces the smell of burning cotton, while the gelatin capsule produces the smell of burning protein (similar to the smell of burning hair).
