Differences and advantages between plant capsules and gelatin capsules
The sources of raw materials are different: the raw materials of gelatin capsules are mainly collagen in animal skin and bones. Because they are from animals, there are many potential risks and uncertainties, such as mad cow disease; the raw materials of plant capsules are from plants. Taking HPMC hollow capsules as an example, the main source is cotton pulp or wood pulp, which is made through etherification. Cellulose is a very abundant natural polymer in nature. Because it is from plants, many risks are eliminated.
Different storage environments: plant capsules are not easy to break in low temperature and low humidity environments, but are relatively stable and not easy to soften and deform in high temperature and high humidity environments. They have almost no effect on the machine in relatively extreme environments; gelatin capsules are easy to soften and produce adhesion in high temperature and high humidity environments. In low temperature and low humidity environments, the moisture of the capsule shell is very easy to lose, and it is very easy to break.
Different production processes: Plant capsules are natural, do not contain protein ingredients, have certain antibacterial effects, and do not require the addition of preservatives during the production process, nor do they require ethylene oxide sterilization. The main component of gelatin capsules is collagen, which is easy to breed bacteria and microorganisms. Some manufacturers also need to use ethylene oxide for sterilization, which may result in a small amount of gas residue after receiving the capsule shell.
